Green Bee Green BEE 2007 Winner Announced

The £2,500 prize awarded to Highcliffe School pupil Alice Gardiner

New Milton Sand and Ballast have awarded Alice Gardiner from Highcliffe Sixth Form College a prize sum of £2,500 for winning this year’s Green BEE competition. Alice competed against four other A Level students from New Forest schools for the cash prize.

The four finalists; Robert Warr from Arnewood School, Naomi Blackford from Brockenhurst College and Alice Gardiner and Matthew Allsopp from Highcliffe Sixth Form College; all had to present their selected projects and be interviewed by a panel of six judges at NMSB head office in New Milton.

The panel of judges for this year’s Green BEE Competition included Matthew Bennett, Head of Environmental & Geographical Sciences at Bournemouth University; Emma Caulton, Editor of Hampshire Life Magazine; Councillor Patricia Banks of New Milton Town Council; Gill Gould, Managing Director of Carswell Gould and joint Managing Directors of NMSB, Michael Badcock and Trevor Poole.

Trevor Poole was thrilled with the day’s events: “This year’s Green BEE has been a huge success. Having recently joined NMSB, this is my first introduction to the Green BEE competition and I was so impressed by the calibre of all the students’ projects and how much effort all the finalists put in. Alice deserved to win 100% she absolutely shone through. She has promised to keep a diary for us to show how the prize has helped her whilst at University.”
