A TEENAGE student from Brockenhurst College is getting to grips with the world of work thanks to an extended placement with New Milton Sand and Ballast.
Laura Johnstone, 17, finishes her Business Administration course at the college in July and is spending one day a week for 10 weeks at the company’s Caird Avenue site.
Laura, whose dad Stuart works for NMSB as a driver, has been carrying out a host of admin tasks, including faxing, creating spreadsheets, invoicing, filing and photocopying.
The Brockenhurst teenager said: “It’s been good, I’m enjoying it. I’m looking forward to getting out into the workplace and having a job now and coming to NMSB has really inspired me.”
NMSB’s Managing Director, Trevor Poole, said: “We’re glad to be supporting Laura - a local girl - as she embarks on her career and I hope her time with us stands her in good stead in the future.”
