Are you garden ready?

  • 24/03/2021

With the colder, darker and shorter days behind us and the chance to see friends and family at home is in sight – are you garden ready?

Patios, decking, vegetable patches, beautiful flower arrangements and water features all come up on top of the list when it comes to working on the appearance of our gardens. Yet, for most of us, the main focus when it comes to our back garden is the challenging upkeep of the lawn.

Tips to care for your lawn

There are many ways you can maintain your lawn. Regular lawn mowing will help promote lush, green growth and giving the lawn an edge will ensure it stays clean and tidy. Nipping out weeds, such as dandelions, as soon as you see them and before they create a deep root is a great way to ensure a weed free garden. If you are beginning to see bare patches, scatter grass seeds and use stored rainwater to water your lawn during dry summers.

When the colder months approach us once more, be sure to spike the turf with a fork to aerate trampled areas and rake out dead growth during the autumn.

Artificial grass as an alternative

We know you'll be spending a lot of time getting your garden ready to welcome visitors. As we've discussed, the lawn might be your biggest challenge, particularly if you have limited time. But don't worry, there is an alternative you may not have considered... artificial grass!

No mud, no mowing, no watering, suitable for pets, safe for children plus a warranty! Artificial grass is one of the best ways to transform your garden quickly with ease. Don’t feel you have to stop at the lawn when it comes to artificial grass, you can also add it to a flat roof as a great way to make sheds, garages and outbuildings look brighter and more at home in the garden. Whether you’re covering up a felt roof or want to update a roof terrace or balcony, you’ll get great results with artificial grass.

With a range of styles and colours to choose from, you can quickly get the garden ready for the summer and we’ve got a promotion to help you on your way!

Let's be cautious and stay safe!

We understand that many people are wanting to get back to some normality but the measures we have followed for the past year do not impact on our delivery of services and more importantly, ensure continued safety for everyone.

Celebrating 85 years serving the local community

We’re proud to be celebrating our 85th anniversary and, with it, the many supportive customers, suppliers and partners we’ve worked with over the years.

Recruitment Open Evening - 21st June

We are very fortunate that our main customer base (local trades and the construction industry) have all continued to operate over this past year. This has meant that we ourselves have been able to continue (nearly) as normal.

How to build an outdoor kitchen

The pandemic has had a massive impact on how we socialise. If the past year has taught us anything, it’s the value of having attractive, comfortable outdoor spaces. This, plus a huge shift towards outdoor socialising, means that many of us have made the decision to invest in our gardens.

Outdoor kitchens are fast becoming very popular in stylish modern homes, as people look to bring the indoors outside and create a beautiful space for al fresco cooking and entertaining. We’ve put together a guide, along with the materials required, to help you build your own garden kitchen.
