Creating more 'room' in your home
With the consequences of the ‘new normal’ looking to continue for a little while longer, and maybe even change where we work from going forward, perhaps it is time to consider looking at what additional areas we have in our homes to convert?
Underused space in the loft
Commonly our loft spaces are underused or not used at all, especially in older houses, yet they can provide a great space to convert into another room. Many loft conversions are covered by permitted development rights and won't need planning permission. However, if you live on designated land or have a certain style of property that's tricky to convert, you may not be covered. Your builder will be able to advise you on this, along with checking other things such as head height, the type of roof you have and the flooring, to be able to advise you on the best type of loft conversion to have.
Converting your loft is easier than you think
There are a few different types of loft conversions. A roof light conversion is the cheapest and least disruptive option and you won't have to make any changes to the shape or pitch of the roof. It’s simply a case of adding in skylight window, laying down a proper floor, constructing the walls and adding a staircase.
