Getting to know us – Our Fleet

As the main local producer of aggregates and building materials for New Milton and the local area for over 86 years, our fleet is obviously an important part of our operations. From the Dodge trucks we had back in the 60’s to the more modern Euro 6 engine trucks we run today, we understand the importance of ensuring that our fleet operations achieve exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.

Having local sites and local quarries enables our transport teams to stay local, reducing our carbon footprint. Efficiency also helps reduce fuel usage and improve our miles per gallon (MPG), and things like regular monitoring of tyres and increasing the servicing of our vehicles helps with maintenance, further reducing elements like tyre dust. And of course, our local and knowledgeable drivers are fundamental in ensuring our respect of the roads and other road users. Many drivers are local residents themselves, and this helps us safeguard a high level of care whilst driving. Our drivers also undertake ongoing training (driver certificate of professional competence, DCPC) that keeps their knowledge up to date on various issues.

Combined with all of this, we are proud of the flexibility we can offer our customers through our fleet. Our diverse but relatively small fleet of 50 vehicles consists of 4, 6 and 8 wheeled tippers, hiabs, skip vehicles, mixers and articulated vehicles, allowing us to deliver to any project, big or small.

Our diversity with our products and delivery options makes us ideal for sites where larger tippers and crane vehicles cannot access. Our vast range of products can be collected and delivered from our sites across the South, both loose and bagged for convenience. When it comes to concrete, we offer various delivery options depending on the desired consistency, you can have your concrete delivered to you wet in a 4, 6 or 8 cubic meter mixer truck, or semi-dry on a tipper. We have a dedicated small load delivery service carrying up to 7 tonnes. You can have a small tipper delivery of construction sands and gravels, decorative shingle and chippings, even ready mixed concrete and screed. We have several types of Hiab vehicles available, the smaller size is perfect for domestic muck away and delivery of bulk bags and other merchant materials, and our bigger, 12T Hiab’s are very popular for large muck away jobs, and our skip vehicles come in a range of sizes, allowing us to deliver skips from 2yds up to 40yd roll on roll off skips, to cater for everything from small DIY jobs up to large scale construction projects.

We have some exciting developments to come over the next 12 months for the fleet, with improvements to further reduce engine emissions and hopeful accreditation with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme.
