Improving the yard at The Fortune College

Last week, we created, supplied, and carried out the essential works required by The Fortune College, part of The Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy, to help them improve their much-needed and used yard. Currently the College are undertaking a huge funding project to help them replace the roof covering of their indoor riding school and ancillary buildings.

An indispensable component of the course is the indoor riding school which incorporates stable yards (their classrooms), offices, a kitchen, and canteen. The roof is now over 40 years old and is in desperate need of replacement. The roof needs to be carried out by specialist contractors at a cost of nearly £300,000.

With all reserves and funding raised needing to go towards this vital project, when another large maintenance issue came about, we were on hand to support them.

We used gravel from our local Milford quarry to create over 35 tonnes of material needed on the yard area, also attending on the day of delivery to carry out the works to lay the products. Through our trained construction staff, we used a mini excavator and ride on roller and created a firm surface for all to now use.

Suzanne Barnett, Assistant Principal commented “The opportunity to have our yard resurfaced so kindly by NMSB has meant that we are not using any reserves to complete essential maintenance works. Thank you, it looks great!”

Rob Flower, our Managing Director, said “A key principle for NMSB is to support initiatives around education, skills, and wellbeing and I am pleased that we have been able to help The Fortune College with a vital repair which meant that they could concentrate on other important projects. As a former School Governor, I have a personal connection to education, especially in supporting those who are more receptive to learning in other environments. The team went over and above to help complete the entire job, and I hope other local companies will follow in our footsteps.”
