Our first night out in ages… The sporting and horticultural team hosted an enjoyable evening for our sands, soils and turf customers.

It was great to host our first corporate event again after a few years off due to Covid-19. Customers from our sporting and horticultural side of the business came along to learn more about the processes involved in producing our specialised sporting sands, along with some much needed time to sit, eat and talk in person! We were also fortunate to be joined (through the power of technology, due to covid isolation) by a great motivational speaker, Aaron Phipps MBE. It was a lovely evening and we look forward to hosting many more in the coming year.

What are the Sporting & Horticultural products?

This is yet another side of our business that is perhaps unknown to all of our customers. 11 years ago, we bought the highly acclaimed Roffey Brothers amenity sports and sands business. Based in Throop, they had a longstanding reputation for delivering specialised sands, soils and composts to golf courses, football clubs, expert contractors and many professional nurseries. The business complemented and enhanced our existing product offering and has gone from strength to strength since.

As part of the recent re-brand in celebration of our 85th year trading, Roffey was fully transitioned over to sit under the NMSB brand and is now referred to in the business as the sporting & horticultural product area. Over the last few years we have focused on maintaining and improving the quality of the products we produce and defining the product lines we can provide. These now include:

• Sands
• Rootzones
• Blends
• Top Soils
• Compost
• Seeds, Fertilisers & Chemicals
• Turf

Further development and progression in the coming years will see our operations move to a larger, dedicated site near Salisbury and investment into new specialised plant.
