Top Tips for Skip Hire

With lots of home improvements underway, and many skip companies to choose from, the safety of our local community is of upmost importance to us. If you are looking to hire a skip, we have put together some useful top tips. Read more and take advantage of our mid-winter sale!

1. Size matters…

There are a range of sizes suitable for domestic and commercial use. Most commonly, from 2 yard skips to 12 yard skips but also larger, roll on roll off skips, varying from 15 yards to 40 yards in capacity. Price obviously matters but going for a smaller option as its cheaper means so many people overfill their skips. Overfilling a skip can cause a lot of damage, not only to the roads but also in the worst case scenario, to us too. Our local community means a lot to us and we never accept, or transport over filled skips on our roads.

2. Location, location, location

When placing a skip on private land a permit is not needed. However, if you need to locate the skip on public land, perhaps a road, then you do need to get a permit. It’s a simple process and our team will arrange all of this with you upon booking. If you don’t get the necessary permit you could be fined by the Council.

3. Good rubbish and bad rubbish

Certain wastes can cause harm to us and the environment. They must be processed correctly and may have legislative regulations that require specialist disposal routes. We will ask you what type of waste you need to dispose of and talk you through the hire agreement you need. We can dispose of a wide variety of wastes including plasterboard, mattresses and heavy build materials.

4. Recycling

You may not really consider what happens to the waste once it leaves you but we all need to play our part in protecting our ever so vulnerable environment, and it's your waste so making sure you do know, is a good step to take to becoming more sustainable. Fully insured and licensed, our Waste Management Centre in Pennington, processes over 100,000 tonnes of waste a year and we provide our own electricity through our joint ventured solar farm.
